Selected Bank Branches to Remain Operational on May 27

Commercial and microfinance banks will operate their selected branches on May 27 in order to ensure the availability of limited banking services to the public at large during the extended holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

It has been decided that banks may open their selected branches on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at their own discretion in various business centers/commercial hubs etc. across Pakistan, a circular issued by State Bank of Pakistan said.

However, it may be noted that RTGS System and Clearing through NIFT will not be available on the above-mentioned date. Accordingly, NIFT will collect Financial Instruments from branches on Thursday, May 28, 2020 for clearing purposes.

In this regard, banks should ensure the deployment of a minimal number of staff necessary to carry out smooth working at their selected branches on the above date.

Banks Holiday From May 22 to 27

As banks/MFBs shall remain closed from 22nd to 27th May, 2020 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In order to facilitate the banking/financial needs of businesses as well as individuals before the holidays, it has been decided to extend business hours for May 21, 2020.

Accordingly, the banks/MFBs may decide extended business hours according to the business requirement at their own on Thursday the 21st May, 2020 to better serve their customers.
