WhatsApp is reportedly getting a couple of big features to make the app easier to use. Based on a recent update from WABetainfo, the platform is going to make searching messages and managing media files easier.
The first new feature dubbed ‘Search by Date’ will allow users to search messages from a specific date similar to what Telegram offers. This new feature will be added to the already available in-chat search functionality. For now, WhatsApp only offers a ‘Search by Phrase’ option.
The second upcoming feature WABetainfo talks about is file storage management. The IM application is reportedly working on a couple of storage tools that will allow users to find media files easily. These storage management tools will be accompanied by a redesigned storage usage section as well. This section will allow users to search for forwarded files and segregate relatively larger files. It will also provide default actions like Newest, Oldest, and Size under the sort button. This is an extremely welcome addition as this will make freeing up storage much easier.
Both features are currently in the early stages of development and are still not available to WhatsApp beta users. According to WABetaInfo, the features will receive some improvements before becoming mainstream. Stay tuned for more updates.
