Section 144 Imposed in Areas Surrounding Bacha Khan Airport Peshawar

Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Mohammad Ali Asghar, has banned aerial firing, drones, kites, and pigeon flying, laser lights in the area surrounding the Bacha Khan Airport.

An official letter said that Section 144 has been imposed for one month in areas around the airport, including Pushtkhara, Landi Akhon Mohammad, Umar Gul Road, Nove Kali, Shaheed Abad, Bara Gate, Customs Chowk, Abdara and Tehkal.

Any violation will be dealt with under Section 188 of the Penal Code of Pakistan, the letter said.

The development has come days after the airport authority officially lodged a complaint that some people in the surroundings point laser lights at incoming flights which distracts the pilots and can potentially lead to a fatal accident.

The airport manager said that at least seven incidents have been reported this year, frightening the cockpit crew, especially of the foreign airlines. The management had asked the concerned authorities to take stern action to tackle the situation.
