Sindh has launched a web-based Health Logistic Management Information System (HLMIS) to keep the record of stocks of all medicines in all government hospitals.
HLMIS has been deployed in Sindh with the assistance from UNICEF and Chemonics, a US-based consulting firm that works with USAID and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

HLMIS will allow hospitals’ management to keep track of all procured medicines as well as the status of consumed and remaining stocks of all medicines.
Although HLMIS had already been deployed in 5 districts of Punjab, Sindh has become the first province to digitize the medicine supply chain all across the province in one go.

DG Sindh health services, Dr. Irshad Ahmed Memon, has said that the new system will ensure transparency and enable authorities to address the issue of shortage of medicines ahead of time.
Using the HLMIS, health department officials can see how much medicine stocks are remaining at all hospitals. Similarly, any hospital lacking a particular medicine stock can visit the site and then get the required medicines from a nearby health facility.
UNICEF health specialist, Andrey Tulisov, has said that HLMIS will not only reduce costs but it will also enable the Sindh health department to make decisions based on data.
