Torrential Rains Disturb PIA’s Flight Operations

Torrential monsoon rains across the country have partially disrupted the flight operations of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Harsh and unfavorable weather caused PIA to cancel from Islamabad to Gilgit. Two more PIA flights, PK-451, from Islamabad to Skardu, and PK-9246 Dammam to Islamabad, have also been delayed.

On the other hand, PIA spokesperson, Abdullah Hafeez Khan denied that the rain caused an interruption in domestic or international flight operations. He said that most PIA flights are taking off as per schedule despite monsoon rains.

He, however, confirmed that only two flights from Islamabad to Gilgit were canceled while two others from Islamabad to Skardu and Dammam to Islamabad were delayed.

Meanwhile, record-breaking torrential rains have wreaked havoc in Karachi, bringing life in the city to a halt. The country’s economic hub is flooded with knee-deep water at nearly all major thoroughfares.
