Govt Approves Higher Quality Standards of 61 Electronic, Auto & Other Products

Federal cabinet has recently approved world-class quality standards for 61 products from a wide range of categories including food items, electronics, batteries, vehicles, cosmetics, surgical equipment, fertilizers and pesticides, and construction materials.

Ministry of Science and Technology had initially forwarded the summary seeking the upgradation of the quality of 61 items to international standards.

Here are all the categories and items which the Federal cabinet has approved.

Electronics

Electronic products make up most of the list of the recently approved products.

Quality standards of the following electronics products will be reconciled to Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) and Energy Star Rating.

• television receivers
• sound system equipment
• headphones
• airpods
• switches for household and similar fixed electrical in­stallations
• washing machines
• multiple split system air conditioners
• air to air heat pumps
• non-duct air conditioners
• electric irons
• plugs
• sockets and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes
• microwave ovens

Vehicles

• rubber tyres for every ride (cycle/car or truck)
• tyre rims
• carbon body car sheets

Fertilizers and Pesticides

• multi-nutrient fertilizers
• biofertilizers
• ammonium sulfate fertilizers
• potassium sulfate fertilizers

Surgical, Hospital Equipment, and Machinery

• medical diagnostic X-ray equipment
• medical electrical equipment
• dosimeters with ionization chambers used in radiotherapy
• heat-treatable steels
• alloy steels
• free-cutting steels for surgeries
• spectacle frames
• sterile surgical glove
