Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved the launch of a biometric verification system for the registration or transfer of the vehicles within Punjab. The said development took place during an important meeting that featured notable figures and was led by the chief minister himself.
Buzdar gave his compliments to the step and stated that this development shall help make things easy for the masses, as they won’t have to visit the Excise and Taxation Department and wait in queues for long hours to get their cars registered. The government shall ensure the introduction of this system which offers efficiency and convenience of international standards.
Buzdar also added that going forward, the applicants shall be able to get their cars registered after going through the process of biometric verification. The verification facility shall be offered at NADRA, the Department of Excise and Taxation, or any authorized dealership. The applicants would also be able to watch the registration progress on their phones.
Buzdar also highlighted that the government will expedite the process of vehicle registration number plate issuance. He added that there were obstacles in that development due to the non-availability of number plates, however, he said that this obstacle shall soon be eliminated and all the operations shall be brought up to proper pace.
Along with general convenience, this facility shall also allow the people to practice vigilance and steer clear of dealerships that offer to get the registration done through an unauthorized channel.
