Cabinet Backs PM Imran Against Any Pressure on Islamic Punishment of Rapists

The federal cabinet has endorsed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s call for the public hanging of rapists and said that no pressure from the West will be accepted in this regard.

Speaking to media after the cabinet meeting, the Federal Information Minister, Shibli Faraz, said that if Islam gives punishments publicly to rapists, then there must be some wisdom in it.

The prime minister firmly believes in Islamic laws and Sunnah of Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

Shibli Faraz told the media that despite international pressure, the cabinet has decided to make legislation regarding the public hanging of rapists and castration of habitual sexual abusers.

We will not tolerate any pressure from the west, east, north, and south.

The minister said that exemplary punishment must be awarded to the suspects of the motorway gang-rape incident.

Rapists must be hanged publicly so that they become an example for others.

In a TV interview on Monday, the premier had called for public hanging and chemical castration of rapists. His remarks came in response to a question related to the heart-wrenching rape incident on a Lahore-Sialkot Motorway.
