Man from Peshawar Gets Arrested for Posing as a Policeman on TikTok

Peshawar Police has arrested a man for posing as a policeman. The Tiktoker, whose identity has not been revealed, hails from Hangu. He was seen wearing a police uniform in his TikTok videos.

According to the police, fake service cards, a uniform, and a weapon were recovered from his possession. They did not release further details.

The short video-sharing app was recently restored in the country after being banned for nearly two weeks.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had blocked the Chinese app in the country for violating local laws and promoting indecent content. PTA said it had received a slew of complaints about vulgar content being posted on TikTok. Officials said that TikTok was given several warnings to regulate its content before the ban was imposed.

The move received a mixed response in the country, with some praising the ban while others criticized it.

However, the government restored TikTok in Pakistan on October 19, eleven days after the ban, following the assurance from its management to moderate the content according to local laws.
