APCNGA Praises Govt for Promoting Use of CNG

In a development that took place on Monday, the All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) acknowledged and appreciated the government’s efforts to promote the use of compressed natural gas (CNG).

The association was of the view that these efforts will curb urban pollution, reduce oil import expenses, and provide more employment opportunities.

The APCNGA Central Chairman, Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, issued an official statement in which he appreciated the steps taken by the government including the ban on the development of illegal CNG stations. He said that these opportunities will greatly help the community of CNG station owners across Pakistan and will protect the industry from dubious businesses.

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has begun issuing licenses to new CNG outlets, only to those who fulfill all formalities, while the ban on import of CNG kits has been lifted and import duty, as well as sales tax, has been slashed to promote its imports.

The chairman added that the new CNG kits will be made available across Pakistan and that they will provide 15 percent extra mileage. He also remarked that the availability of imported LNG at private outlets will encourage more motorists to opt for CNG, which will result in significant cutbacks on fuel expenses and pollution.

Paracha further stated that this step by the government will result in a huge inflow of investment in the industry that will strengthen the economy and aid the creation of more than 30,000 jobs across Pakistan.
