Biden’s Victory: A Win or A Loss for Pakistan and the Muslim World [Opinion]

“It’s about time we stop apologizing for our support for Israel,” Biden stated in 1986. The following year marked the beginning of annual military aid worth $3 billion that Israel continues to receive from the US today.

Whether Pakistan or India will witness a massive strategic policy change with the US is a big ask. It is noteworthy that Indians wanted Joe Biden to win the election because he had chosen Kamala Harris – an African-American also of Indian-origin – as his running mate.

Mixed Views | The Pakistani Viewpoint and the Indian Perception

According to Indian reports, New Delhi’s relations with Washington DC will become more transparent and solid. While Biden is yet to clarify his stance on the Indo-China border dispute, numerous Indian correspondents recommend an aggressive approach against China like Trump did because India still wants to reiterate its dictum of alleged Pakistani-backed domestic terrorism.

For Pakistan, the outset of the election seems too good to be true. Although Trump and Biden may have similar stances regarding their policies towards Afghanistan, VP-elect Kamala Harris has already spoken against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s anti-Muslim policies and human rights violations in IOK. All things considered; Biden-Harris cannot be expected to go to the extent of antagonizing New Delhi as they will need India’s support to contain future backlashes from China.

Today’s Muslim Dreams Big, but Expectations Can and Will Hurt Us

There is a growing queue somewhere between the Euphrates and the Nile, and it is only getting bigger. According to reports, around nine Islamic countries have aligned themselves to normalize their ties with Israel. The UAE made its official announcement on 13 August, Bahrain on 11 September, and Sudan on 23 October, while Saudi Arabia is apparently looking for the ‘right time’ to make its move.

Arab world giving up | ProPakistani

In addition to bilateral agreements signed between Israel and the Arab nations, Sudan, the UAE, Bahrain and the US have signed a mutual pact that the Trump Administration calls ‘the Abraham Accords’.

Starting in mid-August 2020, these normalization deals have drawn widespread condemnation from Palestinians and other Muslim nations like Iran and Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated that if Pakistan ever accepts Israel and ignores the oppression of Palestinians, it will have to give up on Kashmir as well. This is something Pakistanis cannot and will not do. According to reports, the Palestinian embassy in Islamabad thanked Khan for his stance on the matter.

Former Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that normalization must be linked to the solution of the Palestinian problem. He stated there should be no compromise until the Palestinians’ rights receive immediate recognition.

The Biden Impact

Joe Biden is a self-avowed Zionist and has attended many pro-Israeli lobby group meetings like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and J Street. His victory over Donald Trump on Saturday in one of the closest US presidential elections ever has been received with a sigh of relief from Palestinian officials – not so much for his winning, but more for Trump losing.

Biden support for Netanyahu | ProPakistani

Although Biden promised the resumption of humanitarian aid to Palestine, his stance towards the Israeli cause remains balanced. He has openly opposed Netanyahu’s settlement policy on the West Bank but also finds the idea of cutting military aid to America’s ‘only true, true ally in the entire region’ a ridiculous notion. While Biden is a strong proponent of the two-state solution, he refuses to leverage US aid to Israel in order to pressure it into abiding by international laws.

Last Word

Arab alliance with Israel is significant not only for the region but also for Pakistan. Those who have abandoned Palestine are likely to do the same with the Kashmir issue.

Growing an already-given impetus to this religious brand of political mobilization, unity between the Muslim countries is in turmoil. Watch this space for more developments.

  • Joe biden has close ties with Pentagon. We should start diplomatic efforts and try to establish good relation with Pentagon as they will be more involved in foreign policy now compared to Trump.

  • No offense to the author but his pro Iranian and anti Arab stance is showing a bit too much in his articles.

As for opinion on Biden, since he is democrat he will be against Pakistan and more pro Indian in terms of migration and trade which would be totally opposite on what Trump imposed on them in his tenure. Biden’s gears will shift from Trumps pro Arab support to pro Iranian support. Lets not forget how Hilary Clinton and Obama took out the Arab dictators and gave clear support to Iran using deals that were shady from the start. People who think Iran were doing great were clearly in denial.

Truth be told, it doesn’t matter if they support the Arabs or Iran, the damage to them economically and politically is already done. It is just a mater of time that dictatorship will take over these countries and the religious foundation that they based their governments on will end as predicted by the same religion they believed in.
