Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a five-year project worth Rs. 350 billion to curb malnutrition and stunted growth among children all over the country.
Named “Tackling Malnutrition Induced Stunting in Pakistan” the project was granted approval during the 43rd meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) that was held yesterday in Islamabad with PM Imran Khan in the chair and attended by all Chief Ministers.

According to details, the federal government will be responsible for one-half of the project’s total cost while the other half will be equally contributed by all provinces.
The project will cover 30% of Pakistan’s total population which consists of women of reproductive age group and children aged 2 years or less.

During the meeting, PM Imran also underscored the importance of developing a consensus on energy and water issues of the country, adding that decisions on these issues impact the entire nation.
In this regard, the CCI agreed to meet again in January 2021 to address water-related issues and finalize the costs of electricity, gas, and fuel.
