Xperia 10 III Will Be Sony’s First Mid-Range 5G Phone: Leak

Sony is reportedly working on bringing 5G connectivity to its mid-range smartphones. The company allegedly canceled the Sony Xperia 10 II Plus so that it could shift its focus to 5G enabled smartphones.

According to recent reports, the Japanese smartphone maker has two handsets in the works at the moment. One of them is a Snapdragon 875 powered flagship, which will most likely be the next Xperia 1 smartphone. The second smartphone is the Snapdragon 690 powered Sony Xperia 10 III will be the company’s first 5G mid-range phone that will launch in Q1 2020.

The chipset that will power the upcoming Sony Xperia 10 III’s SoC is built on an 8 nm process. It features two Cortex-A77 derived big cores and six A55-based small cores topped with an Adreno 619L GPU. The graphics unit comes with support for 1080p+ displays running at 120 Hz. It is also loaded with the X51 modem, which supports 2.5 Gbps downlink over a sub-6 5G connection and 1.2 Gbps over LTE. Note that mmWave is not supported.

As far as Xperia 10 III’s other specifications are concerned, we don’t know much. However, according to Nodar Sikharulidze, the smartphone will come with more than four cameras and will be announced in late February 2020.
