PTV Sacks Employees at Key Positions to Cut Costs

In a cost-cutting measure, PTV has decided to relieve a number of its employees holding key positions. The employees were drawing huge salaries and PTV decided to lay them off in a bid to reduce the number of contractual employees.

The decision to sack the employees was taken in a board of directors meeting and was approved by the newly-appointed chairman, Naeem Bukhari. The move has been given the go-ahead by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as well.

The employees that have been terminated include Chief of News and Current Affairs, Katrina Hussain, Chief Marketing Strategy Officer, Khawar Azhar, Chief HR Officer, Tahir Mushtaq, Executive Producer Current Affairs, Khurram Anwar, and GM Security, M Nadeem Niazi.

Former Pakistan captain, Rashid Latif has also been relieved of his duties by the state-owned channel. Latif was working as an in-house analyst and guest on PTV Sports and was a mainstay in the show ‘Game on Hai’ with Director Sports & Syndication of the PTV, Dr. Nauman Niaz.

Nasir A.Naqvi held the position of Chief Technology Officer despite not being registered with Pakistan Engineering Council. He has been removed from the post as well.

Meanwhile, eight officials from the PTV board of directors have also been removed.
