According to reports, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced to apply 50 percent pay-cuts in salaries, allowances, and perks for its engineers. As per the notification from the national flag carrier, the pay-cuts will start from January 2021.
Reportedly all aircraft engineers, technical instructors, DCEs, and chiefs are liable for next year’s pay-cut, following the HR department’s notification regarding the reduction of benefits in October 2020. The notification said concessions and salaries were cut in the wake of the financial crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The notification reportedly stated the national flag carrier had slashed salaries of pilots by 25 percent. It further added that pilots who complete 50 flight hours per month will qualify to receive allowances.
At the moment, PIA has 450 pilots, 400 engineers, and 27 finance department officials who will be affected by the reduction in salaries and perks. At the moment, no updates on future pay-outs to the cabin crew have been disclosed.
50% is too much , it should have been between 20-25% , perhaps they want to reduce the size of staff by using covid -19 as an excuse .
