Samsung Has a Major Announcement Planned for December 15th

With the Galaxy S21 series launch and next year’s Consumer Electronics Show (also known as CES) coming up, Samsung has a lot on its hands. Yet, the company has decided to host another event on December 15th for a secret product.

Earlier today (December 10th, 2020), the South Korean OEM released a short-animated video titled “Thank You” on YouTube for fans who have supported them through this tough year. The description asks the fans and consumers to “Please stay tuned until December 15th”.

Since the company is yet to announced its own flagship Exynos processor, we believe this teaser and its description hints that the Exynos 2100 processor will be unveiled on the said date.

The upcoming processor was seen on Geekbench in September this year. According to the benchmark listing, the new flagship processor is a 5nm chipset with eight CPU cores arranged in a 1+3+4 arrangement. The main core is clocked at 2.91GHz, the three performance cores are clocked at 2.81GHz, and the efficiency cores are clocked at 2.21GHz.

After Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, Exynos 2100 is one of the most awaited chipsets of the year since there are claims that it will be as powerful as the SD888, if not more. The Galaxy S21 series sold in select markets will be powered by the Exynos 2100 chipset, while other countries such as the US and China will get the Snapdragon 888 version. Usually, the Snapdragon version performs better as compared to the Exynos version. Things could change for Samsung this time around.
