The Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 feature some of the most powerful GPUs in smartphones and Samsung wants to make the best of it. Similar to Qualcomm, the Korean company is launching a new app called “Game Driver” that will “enable the best gaming experience”.
At first, the app will be limited to Samsung’s latest flagship devices including the Galaxy S20 and Note 20. It will improve performance in titles including Call of Duty Mobile, Fortnite, and several others.
Samsung revealed that the GPU optimization was done thanks to a collaboration with Google and major GPU vendors such as Qualcomm and ARM. For now, Game Driver is only available for the Galaxy S20 and Note 20, but Samsung promises that the count of supported devices will increase “soon”.
We expect the app will become available to other flagship devices first before rolling out to mid-range phones including the A and M series. Keep in mind that the improvement in performance may not be the same on all devices as all of them feature different GPUs and specifications.
