The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has established an Islamic Center for the city’s transgender community. The community will also be provided monetary assistance and jobs with the help of the private sector.
The objective of the initiative is to alleviate and facilitate this marginalized section of society by allowing them to cope with their daily challenges.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, was one of the attendees of the inauguration ceremony of the center.
While addressing the ceremony, he announced the availability of jobs for double MA degree holders, and distributed blankets, quilts, and ration among the members of the community. He also directed the members of the community who are graduates to submit their documents to the ICT administration for job placements.

Transgenders face numerous challenges in Pakistan that vary from being stigmatized to being discriminated against and ostracized from general society. In addition to often being deprived of education and basic facilities, most of them are abandoned by their families and cohabitate in shared houses.
Owing to their helplessness and physical and mental abuse, most of them are compelled to indulge in inappropriate activities like becoming sex workers, dancers, and beggars.
The parliament had enacted the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2018, to safeguard the rights of the transgender community including inheritance, education, employment, voting, holding public office, health, and access to public spaces and property.
