Xiaomi is shaping up to compete more against Amazon’s Kindle reading tablets with its new Mi Reader Pro. The tablet brings a massive upgrade over the original Mi Reader and will be a direct competitor to Kindle Oasis, the successor to Paperwhite.

The new Mi Reader Pro has a bigger display and a lot more customization options. It comes with a 7.8-inch e-ink screen with 330 ppi pixel density. This screen has 24 different levels of adjustable brightness and the color tones can be switched between natural, warm, and cold.
Internal specifications include a quad-core CPU with 32GB of storage and 2GB RAM and the OS is based on Android 8.1. The reading tablet supports voice commands powered by Xiaomi’s own Xiao AI voice assistant for a smoother and faster browsing experience.

Books can be easily transferred from a phone if both devices are on the same wireless network and all widely used book formats are supported including .txt, .epub, .pdf, and even Microsoft Office documents. The battery capacity is 3,200 mAh, and it provides a standby time of 70 days.
The Mi Reader Pro will be available in black for $165. It is only available in China for now but should become available in the international market soon.
