Punjab Govt to Pay Billions in Subsidies for Orange Line Train & Metro Bus

A recent media report has brought to light that the government of Punjab has to pay Rs. 8 billion and Rs. 10 billion per year as subsidies for the Orange Line Train and the Metro Bus project respectively.

The report also suggests that the Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Raja Basharat, has blamed the previous government for “not basing the aforementioned projects on sustainable development models”.

A meeting of the Chief Minister’s Special Committee for the Orange Line Train and the Metro Bus was held at the Civil Secretariat on Thursday during which Basharat stated that the government is attempting to make both the projects sustainable by rectifying the previous government’s administrative shortcomings.
