JW Forland Introduces a Revamped Light-Duty Commercial Truck

In his social media post on Saturday, Javed Afridi, the owner of JW Forland, Foton, and MG Pakistan, announced the addition of a new commercial truck to the JW Forland lineup. The truck is a 2-ton light-duty commercial vehicle that has been introduced by the Chinese automaker for the year 2021.

The truck weighs two tons and has a fuel-efficient yet torquey 2.0 liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder diesel engine that generates over 90 horsepower and 115 newton-meters of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle sits on a ladder-frame platform to withstand tough terrains and has a payload capacity of between 2 to 3 tons.

The truck features leaf-spring suspension on the front and the back, which, although, does not provide the best ride quality but is incredibly reliable and easy to maintain. In the international market, the cabin is equipped with air-conditioning, two airbags, and a modern infotainment system. However, it is unknown as to whether or not the local vehicle has those features.

Whether or not the vehicle is a CBU or a CKD is also unknown, but the price of the vehicle, as shared by Afridi, is Rs. 1,875,000, which makes it cheaper than both, Hyundai H100, which costs Rs. 2.4 million, and Kia Frontier, which costs Rs. 2.1 million.

Javed Afridi is one of the most active car company owners who has been solely responsible for the marketing of the MG brand in Pakistan. The MG HS SUV was also hyped-up primarily via his social media accounts, while the automaker itself remained behind the backdrop. Although JW Forland has carved out a market for itself, whether or not MG would do the same in the passenger car market, remains to be seen.
