Govt To Recognize Addition of Urdu For International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years Program

The Ministry of Education and Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) would recognize the addition of Urdu language to the middle years of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program e-Assessment.

In a recent statement, IB said that students in Pakistan will benefit from the addition of Urdu to the Middle Years Program eAssessment, which will be recognized by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Ministry of Education soon.

The statement said that the IB programs are designed to develop international-mindedness among students. The students master a second language and develop nuanced cultural awareness, which helps them become more open-minded, and prepares them to go on to live and work in different countries.

The world is one global village; IB students understand that and make the most of their internationally-minded advantage.

It added parents can clearly see the difference between their child’s developments versus their non-IB peers, which extends far beyond assessment results. They realize that their child has developed a probing mind, a quest for knowledge and interest in a broad range of topics that goes a long way when they join universities.

The statement maintained that the Primary Years Program has become more popular with Trust and Foundation schools across Pakistan in recent years. At least 20 schools across the country are offering IB Primary Years Program, including the Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust – an IB school since 2014.

Getting started with the primary program, and following a full IB continuum, students develop a liking for learning from an early age, which continues to grow with time. They are trained to be critical thinkers and researchers from the beginning, which helps them throughout life.
