Here’s How PPSC Papers for Tehsildar Posts Were Stolen

Punjab’s Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) uncovered more details in the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) leaked examination paper case on Monday, according to which one of the suspects used to steal the papers and transfer the files to a USB drive.

Four suspects were arrested by the ACE “red-handed, just two hours before the exams for 58 tehsildars posts that were scheduled to be conducted” on Saturday and Sunday.

An ACE official said, “Out of the four people arrested in relation to the scandal, two of them are important members of the gang”.

The official revealed that one of the suspects who used to steal the examination papers, namely Waqar Akram, is a junior computer operator at the PPSC. Akram’s accomplice, Ghazanfar, who works in the PPSC’s department of finance and studies Law at the University of Punjab, would sell the stolen papers.

Additionally, an M.Phil student called Gohar Ali has been detained, and a clerk named Umar Farooq has been fired after the allegations of corruption against him were proven.

On 26 December 2020, a demonstration was held outside the PPSC’s examination centers to protest against the alleged leaking of the examination papers beforehand.

One of the candidates who had applied for the position of lecturer claimed that the PPSC had already given jobs to people.

“By holding examinations, the PPSC is only doing a formality,” he said.
