LG’s Upcoming OLED TV Can Be Manually Curved or Flattened

In a recent teaser video, LG revealed its latest display prototype featuring a 48-inch flexible OLED that can be bent for gaming or flattened for watching TV. This is not the first time the company is revealing something of the sort. Last year before CES the company demonstrated a 65-inch TV meant for use inside planes that could be manually curved for passengers to watch movies.

The 48-inch model will be shown off at the upcoming CES’21. According to the company. It is equipped with LG Display’s Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) technology that vibrates the screen to produce audio. The company claims that the TV can offer you an immersive gaming experience without forcing you to watch TV with a curved screen. Here’s a short video that shows the prototype in action.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the TV can bend with a radius of up to 1,000mm. It comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a variable refresh rate range that goes from 40Hz to 120Hz, and a response time of 0.1 milliseconds.

LG is continuously experimenting with flexible OLEDs. Previously, the company revealed a rollable TV that packs into a compact box. This time around, along with the said TV, the company also plans on showcasing its transparent bedroom TV at the upcoming electronics event.
