Samsung to Announce a 200MP Smartphone Camera Soon: Leak

Samsung is one of the biggest smartphone camera producers next to Sony and it plans to keep its lead over the coming years. The company has plenty of new ISOCELL camera sensors coming in 2021, and one of them is going to be a 200MP sensor, reports renowned tipster IceUniverse.

The tipster does not reveal any details on the upcoming camera sensors but says that the 200MP one should be announced “soon”. We don’t have any information regarding the camera’s specifications such as pixels size, sensor size, or other details either. However, we do know from a report last month that a 600MP camera sensor is in the works as well, though it’s likely not releasing this year.

Another report from last year suggested that Samsung is working on a 250MP camera unit with a 1″ diagonal size, which is significantly bigger than the current biggest 108MP sensor we have, measuring 1/33″. This means that if there is a 200MP sensor coming soon, it should measure below 1″.

If the 200MP sensor is rumored to be announced “soon”, then we might get to see it debut on the Galaxy Note series later this year. However, the launch of the next Galaxy Note phones has become largely uncertain now that the S series is going to feature the S Pen.

In any case, we’ll know more about the mysterious cameras in the coming months. Watch this space for more info.
