Global Smartphone Supply Witnessed An 8.8% Drop In 2020: Report

With Samsung and Huawei moving into a virtual tie for the top spot in global smartphone sales for 2020, the smartphone industry still took a big hit in worldwide sales.

In numbers, the global shipments of smartphones dipped 8.8% in 2020, with production and distribution complications largely attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A financial report suggests that despite the resounding hit, the 5G enabled handsets saw a significant rise, topping 300 million shipments in 2020, as compared to 20 million in 2019.
