Samsung to Take On Apple’s M1 With Its Own Laptop Processors

Samsung may be looking to enter the laptop chip market soon as the company is tipped to develop Exynos chips for computers soon. The news comes only a few months after Apple announced its self made M1 chip for MacBooks.

The company already uses its own silicon for smartphones which is used by other manufacturers as well, but it might be making its way to computers soon according to a new leak from tipster Anthony.

This isn’t the first time we are hearing about Exynos chips featuring on computers as previous leaks have mentioned it frequently. Another tipster revealed in the past that Samsung is working on ARM-based Exynos 1000 chips for Windows PCs. The Exynos 1000 is now officially known as the Exynos 2100, which is a 5nm chip and a direct rival to the Snapdragon 888.

The new leak does not mention when the ARM-based Exynos chips will debut for notebooks, meaning that a possible release date is still largely unknown.

In other news, Samsung is also working on new Exynos chips featuring AMD GPUs, but they are unlikely to arrive anytime soon. However, Samsung recently teased the development during the Galaxy S21’s announcement, so we might get to hear more in the upcoming months.
