Govt to Introduce STEM Education in KP Schools

The Federal Department of Science and Information Technology (S&IT) and the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are set to introduce the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) system of education in schools across the province.

The Federal Minister for S&IT Fawad Chaudhry and the Advisor to the KP Chief Minister on S&IT Ziaullah Khan Bangash, chaired a high-level meeting online to discuss the measures required to start STEM at local schools, which include the establishment of Fabrics Laboratories, Science Clubs, and relevant science and technology projects.

The attendees agreed to initiate the STEM education in ten schools first, and expand it within all the schools across the province later on.

The meeting was attended by the provincial Minister for Education Shahram Khan Tarakai, the Federal Secretary of Education, the Director S&IT Khalid Khan, the Director KP S&IT Board Asim Jamshed, and other officials.

Minister Tarakai termed the initiative a ‘groundbreaking program that will provide students with better opportunities for high-level education’.
