As per reports, the participants of the meeting mutually agreed on the decision to form a new regulatory wing in order to gauge the process within the EV arena of Pakistan. The decision was reportedly reached primarily because of the current regulator’s “inability to regulate the auto industry as it should be”.
The attendees also decided that the PEC will spearhead the formation of a dedicated EV development board and watch over all the formal proceedings and documentation and present a plan to the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Ministry will then present a summary before the cabinet for their approval.
Reports also add that the name of the regulatory wing is proposed to be ‘Future Science and Technology Board’. The new department will monitor developments in the EV market of Pakistan and watch over other developmental activity pertaining to science and technology.
