Punjab To Reopen Primary Schools & Universities From Feb 1

The government of Punjab has confirmed that all the middle and primary schools, madrassahs, and universities across the province, will reopen from Monday, 1 February. A notification in this regard was issued by the Schools Education Department on Friday.

This step is in accordance with the federal government’s decision to resume on-campus classes for schools and university students from the next month.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), which is responsible for overseeing the government’s anti-COVID-19 drive, also endorsed the decision on Thursday.

Taking to Twitter, the provincial Minister for Education, Dr. Murad Raas, stressed for strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocols after the reopening of educational institutions, and shared the official notification as well.

The notification includes all the details about the opening of the educational institutes and the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that are to be followed.

As per the notification, all the students will attend classes on campus on alternative days.

It also stated that the board examinations for the SSC and HSSC students will be conducted in May and June, and reiterated that the schools are to ensure strict implementation of the SOPs issued by the Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department and School Education Department, Punjab.

Additionally, the winter school timings will be observed as before.
