SBP Directed to Formulate Policy for Educating Citizens on Scam Calls

The President of Pakistan has directed the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to formulate a comprehensive policy to educate people against scam calls.

Taking to Twitter, Dr. Arif Alvi, penned that Federal Ombudsman receives thousands of complaints every day where scammers deprive unsuspecting citizens of their life savings.

In recent years, scammers have resorted to disguising themselves as representatives of different banks to elicit personal details from citizens and depriving them of billions of rupees.

In this context, the SBP has advised the public to immediately contact their banks on their registered numbers themselves instead of responding to the incoming calls and sharing their credentials.

Besides, the scammers have also impersonated SBP officials, army officers, and representatives of superior courts of law to defraud citizens in recent years.

Time and again, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has also issued warnings to ensure the protection of citizens from spam and fraudulent calls.
