Federal Govt to Increase Salaries by 40%

After successful negotiations with the All Government Employees Grand Alliance, the federal government has decided to increase the salaries of its employees by 40%.

In this regard, Federal Interior Minister, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, said that a formal announcement will be made before the upcoming budget, adding that the disparity in salaries will be addressed and recommendations of the Pay and Pension Commission will be implemented in the next budget.

The Minister noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan fully believes in the welfare of both federal and provincial employees.

However, the federal government cannot notify a raise in salaries of provincial employees because salary and pension have become a provincial subject after the passage of the 18th amendment.

Sheikh Rasheed also urged Chief Ministers of all provinces to increase the salaries of provincial employees.

Reports suggest that provincial employees have also decided to follow in the footsteps of federal employees and stage protests in order to get their demands of increase in salaries accepted.
