Volkswagen Partners With Microsoft for Self-Driving Cars

Modern technology continues to break new ground, changing the perception of people about what cars can be. With cloud-based IT infrastructure constantly evolving, the car industry is also deriving significant benefits from it, mostly in the form of autonomous driving capabilities.

In a recent development, Volkswagen (VW) has joined forces with arguably one of the biggest tech firms in the world, Microsoft. The partnership shall see Microsoft use its technical expertise in cloud technology to expedite the development of VW’s autonomous driving system.

The partnership has enabled the German Automaker to configure Microsoft’s cloud-tech for VW’s connected cars. In the next phase, the carmaker plans to create an Automated Driving Platform (ADP) that would serve as a launching pad for further development of autonomous driving technology. VW plans to do so using Microsoft’s Azure Cloud computing platform.
