Govt Issues Warning Letters to Underperforming Officers in Punjab

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has taken notice of the inefficiency of 263 government officers in Punjab and has issued show-cause notices and warning letters about their sluggish attitudes and inaction regarding public complaints registered with the Citizens Portal.

The premier made the decision while chairing a meeting of the cabinet.

According to the PM Office, the Chief Secretary of Punjab, Jawwad Rafiq, had inspected the dashboards of 1,586 officers and submitted a report of the PM’s Delivery Unit to him.

The report revealed that 833 officers have been ordered to be “careful in future”, 111 have been asked to submit explanations, 263 have been sent warning letters, and seven have been served show-cause notices.

Punjab’s secretaries on Information, Agriculture, Excise, and Irrigation have also been directed to improve their performances.

Furthermore, the report revealed that complaints were not being handled according to the prescribed instructions and that several complaints had been transferred to the subordinates of the concerned officials who make the majority of the decisions in their stead.

The PM Office stated that the warning letters had been issued to caution the underperforming officers. It also announced that “All out steps are being taken to extend facilities to the people as per Prime Minister’s vision”.

On the other hand, 403 officers have been praised for their performances.
