Here’s What Oppo’s Sliding Selfie Camera Will Look Like

Oppo has showcased many unique camera designs over the past. The Oppo N1 was one of the first to show off a moving camera and later came the Oppo Find X and the Reno 10x Zoom with its sharkfin camera setup. The company appears to be up to it yet again as shown by a design patent that describes a sliding selfie camera.

As always, the patent was spotted by LetsGoDigital and that is where the renders are from. These renders show a unique smartphone with a sliding selfie camera capable of going left and right in the top bezel.

Have a look.

The original patent is 33 pages long and was filed with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation). The patent describes that the main purpose of this selfie camera design is to be able to capture photos from multiple angles. This is achieved by mounting the camera sensor on a guide block which is able to move from one end to the other on a rail.

A tiny monitor on the back does this job and the camera movement will only occur when the selfie camera is activated through the camera app.

A moving selfie camera is an innovative way to do frontal photography, but this technology will likely be used to create 3D images of the user’s head without having to move much.

It could also be used to improve portrait and panoramic shots, but we will only get to see real-world applications if this technology becomes reality. That being said, we recommend taking this information with a grain of salt as it is only a patent.
