Classes 1-5 to Have Uniform Curriculum for Next Academic Session

The President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, presided over a meeting on the single national curriculum on Wednesday, where he was told that the uniform syllabus would be introduced in grades 1 to 5 from the academic session of 2021-22.

The meeting was informed that in the second phase, the curriculum would be upgraded for classes 6 to 8, while in the third phase, students of grades 9 to 12 will receive the uniform curriculum across the country.

The President was informed that a uniform curriculum has been developed per international standards for the educational needs of the country, which would be implemented in all areas of education.

It was said in the briefing that the uniform curriculum has been prepared in consultation with all federal units, including the private sector, religious madrassas, and concerned stakeholders.

The session was also told that a uniform syllabus would focus on Quran and Sunnah, the constitution, national policies, and national standards. A special focus will be given to the Sustainable Development Goals, the ideas of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal, and the national values.

The President underscored the need to implement a single national curriculum to eliminate segregation in the education sector.

He said that the focus should be on fostering character building, critical and creative thinking in students, and providing quality and research-based education for the socio-economic development of the country.
