Xiaomi’s Upcoming Redmi K40 Will Also Be a Gaming Phone

Xiaomi is unveiling the much-anticipated Redmi K40 tomorrow and the device is being touted as ‘more than a flagship’. Redmi’s GM Lu Weibing has been posting a lot of teasers on Weibo and has revealed plenty of information regarding the upcoming device.

We already know that the handset will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset and that it will be equipped with a 6.81-inch AMOLED panel with 1440p resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. In the most recent teasers, the company further revealed that the touch sampling rate will be higher than 300 Hz. This will make it the fastest display, in terms of touch sampling, available on the market.

Apart from this, the Redmi K40 will also pack an advanced vibration motor for better haptic feedback. It has also been certified for Hi-Res Audio and will support Dolby’s panoramic sound.

Reportedly, the company is also developing add-on shoulder buttons for the phone. The users will be able to adjust their position for maximum comfort and map their functions however they like. Another add-on accessory that is allegedly in the works is a fan that clips on the back. This will keep the phone cool during gaming sessions.

We are unsure if the vanilla Redmi K40 will also come with similar features. According to unofficial information, the Pro model will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC while the vanilla will come with Snapdragon 870. Moreover, both phones will be compatible with the accessories.
