Govt Saves Rs. 172 Million in Austerity Drive

The government has saved the national exchequer millions of rupees through its austerity drive.

According to the official data, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government has significantly cut the expenditures of the Prime Minister’s House and Prime Minister’s Office

Rs. 218 million were allocated in the last fiscal year to meet the operating expenses, however, only Rs. 46 million were used.

The government saved Rs. 10 million from the allotted budget for travel and transportation and Rs. 4 million expenditure was saved on physical assets.

Additionally, the budget for entertainment and gifts was significantly reduced from Rs. 1.5 million to only Rs. 1,000.

Rs. 20 million was allocated for the tour expenses of the Prime Minister, however only Rs. 1.2 million was used.

Also, the government reduced the expenditure on wages of household servants by Rs. 30 million. A reduction of Rs. 10 million was done under Prime Minister’s Estate Garden Establishment.
