Numerous incidents of bio-secure bubble breach and negligence by the authorities have come to light after the decision to postpone the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6 was announced.
In the latest development, it is reported that one official of a PSL franchise was allowed to exit the bio-secure bubble despite testing positive for COVID-19 just a couple of days ago.

The unnamed official was part of a PSL franchise and joined the squad in the bio-secure bubble after returning two negative tests before the start of the tournament. On the opening day of the tournament, the individual returned a positive test and was sent to the isolation facility.
According to reports, the individual was asymptomatic. Just a couple of days later, he was instructed to exit the bio-secure bubble. The official departed from Karachi to Lahore the same day.
In a bizarre turn of events, the individual decided to undergo another COVID-19 test just a few days after exiting the bio-secure bubble. The individual took the test on 24 February, five days after he tested positive. However, this time, he tested negative for COVID-19.

These details raise questions on the credibility of testing at the PCB and the negligent behavior of the management on allowing the individual to exit the bio-secure bubble despite testing positive and being a risk to other people.
The PCB has announced an independent fact-finding panel to review the bio-secure protocols. The said panel will carry out a holistic and detailed review of the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for the Pakistan Super League 6, identify the lapses, and find out the reasons why the bio-secure environment did not remain COVID-free.
