Sindh Education Minister, Saeed Ghani, has announced the suspension of physical classes up to eighth grade in all public and private schools across the province due to the rising number of coronavirus cases.
The restriction, starting April 6, 2021, will continue for 15 days, Saeed Ghani said. Meanwhile, the schools will continue to provide online classes and engage students through homework and other means.

A notification to this effect was also issued by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department on Sunday, confirming the development.

The decision came hours after Federal Minister, Shafqat Mahmood, announced the NCOC meeting on Monday to decide whether to open or further close educational institutions.
Whatever is decided will be a collective decision of the country’s health and education authorities and NCOC.

On March 24, Ghani had opposed the NCOC decision and had said that all educational institutions across the province would remain open as usual.
“At present, the situation of coronavirus in Sindh is under control, but if SOPs are not implemented, problems may arise,” he had warned.
