World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Coronavirus cases and deaths are rising at an alarming rate around the world because the public has started to ignore precautionary measures since the start of the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines.
According to the latest figures, 136.6 million cases and 2.95 million deaths from COVID-19 disease have been reported around the world since December 2019. Since 1 April 2021, on average, 600,000 cases have been reported daily worldwide.

During a press briefing, WHO’s spokesperson, Margaret Harris, attributed the recent sharp rise in COVID-19 cases and deaths to the failure to observe precautionary measures, increase in Coronavirus variants, and the resumption of so-called normal life in different parts of the world.
Besides, WHO’s spokesperson noted that 670 million doses of vaccines have been administered worldwide. Sadly, most of those doses have been administered in rich nations.
The only good news is that the initial data from wealthy states such as the UK shows that the rates of deaths, cases, and hospitalization have fallen to the lowest point in months thanks to the mass vaccination program.
