News about a Redmi branded gaming phone has been making rounds on the internet. Putting rest to the leaks and rumors, the Chinese company has finally confirmed that Redmi’s first gaming phone will be the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition that will be launched under the Redmi K40 series on 27th April 2021.
Redmi uploaded a GIF teasing the phone on Weibo today. The image reveals that the upcoming Redmi gaming phone is fitted with mechanical shoulder buttons for an enhanced gaming experience. The camera bump is quite different from what we saw on the Redmi K40 series. It has a similar pill shape but houses three camera sensors and has LED strips on the top and bottom. It also shows a sliding button beneath the rocker that is usually found in OnePlus phones.
Recently, Xiaomi devices with model numbers M2102K10C and M2104K10C were spotted on the 3C authority of China. It is believed that the model numbers belong to two variants of the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition. The listing discloses that the handset will carry support for 5G connectivity and will boast 67W fast charging.
Other reports suggest that the phone will be built around a 6.67-inch Samsung AMOLED E4 screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate. The phone will most likely be powered by the Dimensity 1200 chipset and will draw power from a 5000 mAh battery.
The phone will most likely cost around $300.
