Private Schools Go Against Govt Decision to Reduce Monthly Fee

Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has moved to Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the federal government’s decision to reduce monthly fees by 20% for private schools and colleges.

According to details, Chief Justice IHC, Justice Athar Minallah, will hear PEIRA’s petition today. Shireen Imran advocate will be representing PEIRA in IHC.

A day earlier, the Federal Education Ministry directed all private educational institutes in Islamabad to reduce monthly fees by 20% due to closure amid the ongoing deadly third wave of Coronavirus.

The decision required private institutes to decrease the monthly fee by 20% with effect from April 2021 till their reopening.

In case the fee challan for April and May 2021 had already been issued or the fee had been paid before the announcement of the concession policy, private institutes were directed to adjust the fee next month.

Note that private institutes charging a monthly tuition fee of less than Rs. 8,000 were granted exemption from the concession policy.
