Islamabad is set to introduce artificial intelligence (AI)-powered traffic signals under the Safe City Expansion Project to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion across the capital.
The plan was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Director General Safe City and Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Muhammad Haroon Joiya.
Representatives of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Safe City technical team attended the meeting and discussed the project’s technical and operational requirements.
The proposed system is expected to improve traffic management, road safety, and traffic discipline while providing smoother travel for commuters on Islamabad’s road network.
Haroon Joiya directed the relevant authorities to complete the project on time and maintain close coordination to ensure its successful implementation.
According to an official, the initiative is part of the broader Safe City Expansion Project, which aims to use advanced technology and artificial intelligence to modernize traffic management and strengthen smart policing in the federal capital.
