Nubia has launched yet another gaming smartphone under the Red Magic 6 series dubbed the Red Magic 6R. The handset is not a huge upgrade over its siblings. However, it comes with a slimmer body and drops some of the gaming aesthetics.
Design and Display
As compared to its predecessor that featured a bulky body and came with hardcore gaming aesthetics, the Nubia Red Magic 6R is a little toned down. It is available in pastel colors and has a rectangular camera bump on a two-toned body.
The smartphone is built around a 6.67-inch AMOLED with a 144Hz refresh rate and a single punch hole in the center. For shoulder triggers, it uses touch sensors instead of physical keys. These sensors offer a 400Hz touch sampling rate.
Internals and Storage
The gaming handset is powered by a Snapdragon 888 chipset coupled with 8 GB or 12 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB onboard storage. The software front is handled by Redmagic 4.0 UI on top of Android 11.
In addition to this, the Red Magic 6R comes with a multi-dimensional cooling system that includes graphene, VC liquid cooling, and thermal gel to deliver smooth gaming for long hours.
Cameras
Around the back, the handset sports a quad-sensor rear camera setup with a 64 MP Sony IMX682 primary sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide shooter, a 5 MP macro shooter, and a 2 MP depth sensor.
For selfies, the phone is equipped with a 16 MP snapper.
Battery and Pricing
As far as the battery is concerned, Nubia Red Magic 6R is a downgrade as compared to its siblings. The phone packs a 4200 mAh battery that charges up to 55W in China and 30W on the global model. Other members of the series come with a 5050 mAh battery with 66W charging globally and 120W in China.
The phone will be available for sale by 1st June and the base variant will cost $470.
