Punjab Govt Confirms Date for Reopening of All Schools

The Government of Punjab has announced the reopening of all the public and private schools across the province from 7 June.

This was stated by the provincial minister for Education, Murad Raas, on Thursday.

Taking to Twitter, Raas said:

All Public and Private Schools of Punjab to be opened on Monday 7th June 2021. It will be a staggered approach.

He also attached a notification with the tweet, according to which only 50 percent attendance will be allowed per day, and no student will be allowed to attend the school for two consecutive days.

It directed all the concerned authorities to ensure compliance with the COVID-19 SOPs in letter and spirit.

The notification revealed that the decision had been in line with the recommendations of the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, Minister Raas had advised students not to waste time protesting but to prepare for the examinations.

“There’s no way the government will cancel exams this year,” he said during an interview with Samaa TV. “Bring as many celebrities as you want, the decision will not change,” he added.
