Matric Exams in Sindh Embroiled in Yet Another Controversy

A Physics examination question paper was leaked in Karachi as the annual examination of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) was being conducted across Sindh on Monday.

The examination had started at 9:30 am and the question paper was available outside by 9:35 am, thus exposing the lapses in the administration of the Sindh Education Department.

There were numerous media reports that the examination had started late at several exam centers, drawing the criticism of the candidates and their parents.

Several invigilators, including a teacher at the Al-Asif Government School in Malir, complained to the media about having received the question papers late. The teachers, however, clarified that the candidates would get the stipulated two hours to take the examination.

The Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), Syed Sharaf Ali Shah, said that a total of 348,249 candidates have registered for the Class 9 and Matriculation examinations in the Science and General groups.

Of the 438 designated examination centers, 185 have been set up in government schools and 253 in private schools. A total of 201 centers are for girls, while 237 are for boys.
