KP Govt Bans Issuance of New Arms Licences

The provincial government has banned the issuance of new arms licenses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The decision was made in a meeting that was held under the chairmanship of the provincial Chief Minister (CM), Mahmood Khan. The main agenda of the meeting was to review the overall law and order situation in KP and its newly merged districts.

Besides the ban on producing new licences for ammunition, the attendees of the meeting decided to prohibit protests at or near Assembly Chowk for security reasons.

CM Khan directed the concerned security officials in attendance to monitor unlawful activities and to take action against the individuals or groups that use tinted windows on their vehicles or publicly display their weapons. He called for strict prosecution against aerial firing, the sale and purchase of drugs, and related criminal offenses that are aimed at disrupting the security in the province.

He also directed other officials to devise new strategies to strengthen counter-terrorism and the related activities of the police.
