Huawei is Working on 90W Fast Charging

While companies like Xiaomi, Infinix, and Oppo race ahead with 100W and 120W fast charging speeds, Huawei still lags behind in terms of wired charging. Huawei’s phones currently max out at 66W wired charging, but the company is now working on raising this limit.

A new report from tipster Digital Chat Station claims that Huawei is working on a 90W fast charging system. It is unclear which phone will be the first to feature this technology, but we have our eyes on the upcoming Huawei P50.

An unnamed Huawei phone recently got certified by the 3C with 66W fast charging, which may be the Snapdragon 888 powered LTE version of the P50. The 5G version of the phone powered by the Kirin 9000 may, however, have faster charging.

This may have to do with the Huawei Mate 50 not launching this year (according to rumors), so the P50 may be the only flagship Huawei phone in 2021. The Huawei P50 is rumored to launch on July 29, but we are yet to see any official information on this date.

During the launch of the Mate 40, the Huawei Consumer Business CEO Richard Yu revealed that the company has already tested 100W fast charging speeds and even 200W. However, the company decided against releasing this technology due to battery capacity concerns.
