Careem has recently updated its policy of paying captains after a ride. The new policy limits the amount of money you can pay them, according to a screenshot shared by a customer.
Previously, if captains did not have change (usually early in the morning), customers could deposit the extra amount into their wallets. Now, Careem says that its Gold customers (who have complete 15 rides or orders, or a combination of both in one month) can pay “an extra amount of PKR 400 to the Captain” after each ride while other customers “can pay an extra PKR 100 after each ride to add to their Careem PAY Wallet”.

Careem also advised its customers to check their wallets after paying the amount because a previous technical malfunction had led Careem to charge a customer in thousands.
